Sourcing from wikidata
We want to enrich/link data in MP with data on wikidata. This applies mainly to Tools and Services. This has two levels:
- link to corresponding entry in wikidata
- use metadata information from wikidata to enrich the entries in MP
There are over 11.000 entities of type software
(wd:Q7397
)
Many of them are not relevant. And there may be other relevant types/classes. (to be checked).
Query to get all entities of type software
(wd:Q7397
) (with en-label - reduces the result to over 8.000) :
SELECT DISTINCT ?item ?itemLabel_en WHERE {
?item wdt:P31 wd:Q7397 .
?item rdfs:label ?itemLabel_en . FILTER(lang(?itemLabel_en)='en')
}
It seems like a candidate for a curation task:
Lookup existing entries in Wikidata and record the wikidata-identifier as externalIdentifier
.
In a separate step we could read information from wikidata, but that would require a mapping from wikidata properties to MP-data model. And before that it would probably be worthwhile to analyze data in wikidata, if there actually is relevant amounts of relevant new information.
Next to this, in the extraction task, we introduce an "external lookup"-step, where wikidata will be queried for Tools that have been identified as candidates in the papers during the extraction step, but have no match in the current list of Tools & Services in MP. If there is a match in wikidata, these could be added as new suggested items in MP.
However the enrichment and the proposition of new items are considered two different tasks.
