Decision: Whither PyPlot?
So InPartSMakie is shaping up nicely (except for the bugs
Personally, I do not use PyPlot at all (except when testing our various example scripts), so I wouldn't be too sad to see it go, but it might be handy to keep it around as the safe/stable option for 2D plotting.
However, if we do keep it, I'd like to update it a little and maybe even make some API changes to get rid of the PyPlot legacy (e.g. maybe adapt the output format of getpolygon
(if the current version is holding some things back), drop the plotting-related Holy traits (if you want custom plotting for your particles, that's what a recipe is for!)
So in the end, this boils down to three decisions
- Should we keep maintaining the PyPlot code at all?
- If yes, should we refactor it significantly or keep it frozen?
- Should it stay here or move somewhere else? If we get rid of some plotting code, why not all of it?
